Don - Delivering on promises

Don Foster stands up for Bath in parliament

During the General Election Don made four key pledges. In government the Liberal Democrats are delivering on these pledges.

1) Fair taxes that put money back in your pocket

The government has raised the personal allowance by 1,000 to 7,475 with a commitment by the coalition to raise it to 10,000 pounds a year.

2) A Fair chance for every child

The government has implemented a Pupil Premium. This is an additional 2.5 billion pounds to encourage schools to take on poorer pupils.

3) Create Jobs by making Britain Greener

The government has announced a Green Deal which will provide an extra 3.5 million homes with insulation and will provide an extra 75,000 jobs. We have invested 850 million pounds into the renewable heat initiative to provide long term support for renewable heat technologies, from household solar thermal panels to industrial wood pellet boilers.

4) A Fair deal for you from politicians

The government has announced a referendum on election reform for May 2011 giving the electorate the chance to choose which voting system they want.

If you are a resident of the Bath constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
