About Ian

Cllr Ian Gilchrist is proud to live in Widcombe

Came to live in Bath in 1983, and resident in Widcombe since 1984. Working as Software Products Manager at local IT firm, IPL. Married with two children, educated at Widcombe and Ralph Allen schools. Joined LibDems in 2003, initially as a result of UK entry into the Iraq war.

Main Local Political Interests

I am particularly interested in local environmental issues and schemes, especially Transition Bath.

Current Local Campaigns

Road campaigns:

- Rossiter Rd Two-Way (to divert heavy through traffic away from Widcombe shops)

- Pulteney Rd (to improve safety at the schools crossing)

- Wells Rd (to have a crossing put in where a man was killed 2 months ago)

- Widcombe Hill (work with residents on speed reduction)

Parking permits - to ensure any price rises are justifiable and justified

Community Safety in the Dolemeads estate - working with Police, council officers and other partners to add lighting in dangerous areas and get a Neighbourhood watch scheme started (at request of residents).
