About Southdown

Paul Crossley is one of Southdown's Lib Dem Councillors and is also Leader of the Lib Dem Group on Bath & North East Somerset Council

Southdown ward borders on Oldfield Park and Twerton, at the south-west edge of the city. Southdown is a heavily residential area - less than 1% of the people employed in Bath and North East Somerset work here.

Local councillors have been working with the YMCA centre in Mount Road to provide activities for young people in the area, Cllr Romero said: "There was a problem with the young people gathering in the play area. There were various things happening and residents were very upset.

"But quite a few of the youngsters have started to go to the YMCA now and there have been no problems there. It seems to have been a big help."

Also, thousands of pounds are being invested in local community centres and a major fund-raising bid is set to be launched to get Southside Community Centre back into public use. Cllr Crossley told the Bath Chronicle "We need to hear from people who would be interested in using the centre.

"We want to build up a package of reasons why it is essential to reopen it." Once we have done that, we can launch funding bids. If you can help, please get in touch using the details below.

Local elections 2007

Paul and Dine were both re-elected as Southdown Councillors in 2007.

Dine says: "I want to continue to make a positive contribution to Southdown by continuing projects and issues already started such as improving communication between young and older residents, improving Mount Road shopping area"

Paul says: "Being a Councillor is a privilege and opportunity to serve the people of Southdown and attempt to bring improvements to the environment of Southdown and to ensure the Council delivers its services to best value for council tax payers. It is also an honour to be able to serve the wider community of Bath and North East Somerset."
