Bath Liberal Democrats - Working and Winning for Bath with Don Foster all Year Round

Kingsmead

Andrew Furse

Andy is one of your two Liberal Democrat councillors in Kingsmead.

He was first elected to the Council in 1994, and was previously Chair of the influential Overview and Scrutiny Panel for Education, Youth, Culture and Leisure.

Andy has worked on a number of projects in the city covering:

  • School meals

  • Primary and secondary school reviews

  • Green spaces strategy.

He works in Bath as a chartered engineer for a railway safety consultancy. He lives in Kingsmead ward and has two daughters who attend local primary and secondary schools.

Andy says "We must protect our green spaces, tackle crime and antisocial behaviour, and ensure schools in the city remain high quality. Residents need to be kept informed on major projects like Western Riverside.

"From listening to many of you on the doorstep, I have a good idea about what the people of Kingsmead ward want from the Council."

The Liberal Democrats' priorities for Bath and North East Somerset:

  • Setting the lowest Council Tax in the area

  • Providing better public transport and a cleaner, greener environment

  • Creating safe neighbourhoods and provide affordable housing

  • Caring for older people, the young and the more vulnerable members of our community

  • Promoting culture, regeneration and active, healthy lifestyles

Carol Paradise

Carol has lived in Bath for thirty years and is married with three grown-up children. She was born Stonehouse, South Gloucestershire in 1942. As a child she travelled extensively with her parents as her father was serving in the RAF.

Carol has been an active supporter of the Liberals and then the Liberal Democrats all her life. She has been a Lib Dem Councillor in Kingsmead since 2003. Prior to that she was a Councillor in Twerton for four years. Her favourite political work is helping Kingsmead residents with their problems and she works very hard on their behalf. She has been battling to get Sainsburys to clean up the riverside.

Carol has served on many committees including:

  • Planning

  • Forest of Avon

  • Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

  • Taxi Licensing

  • the Fostering Panel

Her hobbies include collectible and antiques fairs, gardening and animal welfare and she is a keen supporter of the allotments.
